Hormone Imbalance & What You Can do About It!
When I talk to patients about hormone replacement therapy, I like to tell them that we take your hormone imbalance and restore it to it’s proper level.
There are many critical hormones in your body. In order to have you functioning your best, they all must interact together in kind of complex dance. If one is out of step, the whole performance falls apart!
Under the best of circumstances, your body tends to keep your hormones balanced. But, many things can throw it off. Stress, lack of sleep, poor diet, can all knock the delicate balance of your hormones out of whack. The drop in testosterone and HGH as you get older causes the whole system to get thrown off.
Stress further adds to hormone imbalance. High stress produces more cortisol, and cortisol is a hormone that interferes with the production of testosterone and HGH.
Lack of sleep also adds to this hormone imbalance, as HGH and Testosterone are replenished during restful sleep.
The best way to break this cycle and pump your levels, is to “pump it up.” Heavy and intense exercise improves testosterone and HGH levels, and causes cortisol levels to drop. High Intensity Interval Training, or HIIT in particular, is great for this.
Combine regular exercise with a good diet, and you create the best weapon against the worst hormone crusher – belly fat!
Other ways to pump up your testosterone naturally include:
- Minimizing the consumption of alcohol
- Minimizing the use of recreational drugs, including marijuana
- Getting enough sleep can also raise your testosterone levels
- Practice stress reduction techniques such as yoga, meditation or Tai Chi
- Quit smoking
- Fight negativity, have more positive thoughts
