Celebrities Who Swear By Hormone Replacement Therapy
I would be the first one to admit that Hollywood celebrities and sports stars are not always the best role models for living a healthy lifestyle. However, when it comes to hormone replacement therapy, or HRT, that is the exception to the rule. On the court or the silver screen, where careers can be made or broken, on the basis of youth, strength, and vitality, many have found the real benefits of HRT.
Suzanne Somers is perhaps one of the most outspoken and high profile advocates of HRT. I have had the pleasure of working with Suzanne, in helping to bring her hormones in balance. She has said, “I have my hormones balanced. Most doctors are giving women treatments, which just eliminate the symptoms, but it’s doing nothing to actually replace the hormones you have lost. Without our hormones we die.”
Suzanne is absolutely right. Hormones are a key part of the way your body functions. They are the chemical messengers secreted by the many glands of the endocrine system, and carried by the blood stream that stimulate and regulate most body processes.
Other celebrities who swear by HRT and have used it and/or other hormone optimization treatments such as Human Growth Hormone include:
- Jane Fonda
- Sylvester Stallone
- Oprah Winfrey
- Jane Seymour
- Kim Catrall
- Dixie Carter
- Demi Moore
- Whoopi Goldberg
- Britney Spears
- Susan Sarandon
- Jennifer Aniston
- Courteney Cox
- Deborah Harry
I am also currently providing hormone optimization and other age optimization treatments for sports personalities, and former Miami Dolphins, Joe Rose and Jimmy Cefalo.
What Do Hormones Do?
The glands that secrete the hormones that are most closely tied to performance and aging are the pituitary gland, thyroid, adrenal glands and the sex organs. These glands are what are known as “ductless,” which means they secrete their hormones directly into your bloodstream, which in turn means, it only takes very small amounts to bring about major changes in your body. Even a very slight elevation above the normal range of the secretion of certain hormones can lead to serious diseases and conditions, as can even the slightest deficiency in a given hormone.
Hormones are responsible for:
- Sexual function, reproductive growth and health
- Growth and development
- Metabolism and digestion
- Cognitive function and emotional health
- Maintenance of body temperature and thirst
The relationship between hormone levels and cellular function is based on balance. It isn’t always about “normal levels.” What is right for one person is not always the same for another, but what is common for everyone is that as you grow older, the likelihood of hormone deficiencies and imbalances increases.
Hormone Replacement Therapy
Hormone replacement therapy, or HRT, as the name implies, is all about renewing vitality by giving you back what age takes away.
Biologically speaking, hormones stimulate, facilitate, or regulate almost all of your bodily functions. Another way to look at them is that they are a key raw material feeding the machines of your body’s factory. And, like any raw material, they can get used up, and need to be replaced. Your body naturally produces and replaces hormones as needed. However, its ability to do so is not unlimited. As we age, our ability to produce hormones decreases. In particular are the hormones associated with sexual function and youthful vitality.
Hormone Replacement therapy, particularly bio-identical hormone replacement therapy, (BHRT) has been shown in countless studies to significantly improve quality of life. BHRT returns strength, energy, and youthful vitality to both men and women, while at the same time actually reduces the risk of developing chronic illnesses, and other age-robbing conditions.
Hormone Replacement Therapy, such as that used successfully by so many of these sports stars and celebrities, is simply a way to give you back what aging takes away. However, Hormone Replacement Therapy is a complex science. It requires an in-depth understanding of your optimal levels, and experience in knowing how to bring your hormones back into your unique proper balance. You should only seek HRT from an experienced and qualified medical professional.
