The Benefits of IV Nutritional Therapy
“Eat your vegetables!” You all have heard your moms say it until they were “green” in the face! As it turns out your mom was right. There have been countless scientific studies that have shown the powerful anti-aging and disease fighting properties of the vitamins, nutrients, and anti-oxidants found in vegetables.
It is also a well-known fact, when it comes to diet and nutrition, we do not always have the time to follow our mom’s or our doctor’s best advice. Many of you who know you may not be eating right, turn to vitamins and nutritional supplements to make up for the difference. That is a good decision, and certainly could help to improve or maintain your health.
But did you know that many vitamins and minerals cannot be digested properly when taken orally?
Which means, all the good you think you are doing by taking oral supplements, may not be giving you the desired effects. Also, many people are particularly sensitive to oral supplements, and although they realize the benefits, refuse to take them, because of the gastric distress, and stomach upset they can cause.
There is a better way, it is called IV Nutritional Therapy.
What is IV Nutritional Therapy?
The “IV” in IV Nutritional Therapy stands for “intravenous,” and as the name implies, it is a safe and effective procedure where a special “cocktail” of vitamins and nutrients are delivered directly into your bloodstream.
IV Nutrition Therapy bypasses the stomach and the digestive system entirely, so there are none of the issues of non-absorption of nutrients, or gastric distress that can be associated with the oral supplementation of vitamins and minerals.
Why is IV Nutritional Therapy So Effective?
Besides the fact that nutrients are more readily, and easily absorbed using IV nutrition, it is better than oral supplementation, because you could never comfortably achieve the same level of concentration of nutrients in the cells where they are needed most, in liquid or pill form. For example,
an IV cocktail containing vitamin C, can raise the blood levels of this powerful anti-oxidant in the blood 50 – 100 times higher than what you could achieve taking oral vitamin C.
Not to mention, taking that level of vitamin C would cause discomfort and diarrhea in almost anyone.
IV Nutrition Cocktails
There are commonly two “nutritional cocktails” used in IV Nutritional Therapy. They generally are used for different purposes.
1. Myers Cocktail
It is a special blend of magnesium, calcium, vitamin C, and various B vitamins. It is generally used for treating lethargy and fatigue, and to boost the immune system.
It has also been shown to be effective in helping reduce the symptoms of chronic fatigue, and similar conditions such as Fibromyalgia. Asthma patients, and those suffering from other respiratory ailments, have also seen an ease of symptoms after being administered a Myers Cocktail.
2. Glutathione Cocktail
The other IV Nutrition formulation I use in my practice is the Glutathione Cocktail. It is most effective when used to boost immune function, for detoxification, and controlling inflammation.
In addition, patients who are feeling the first onset of a cold or flu, or immediately recovering from the weakness of a cold or flu, have gotten back on their feet quicker, after receiving one or a combination of the two therapies.
There are little or no side effects to IV Nutrition therapy, it is a simple, and relatively inexpensive in-office procedure.
